Plantain Crusted Chicken: A Love Story
A story of one man’s discovery of an amazing dish and how it forever changed his view on the world
The November wind blew cold onto the streets of Chelsea when I exited the black Tahoe that dropped me off in front of the nameless, former industrial building now occupied by a tech giant. I was there for a week of meetings and to put a cap onto a three month program delving into the finer points of venture capital and high-growth startup financing. Walking through the security checkpoint of the PayPal offices, I had no idea what would truly await my being.
We began our morning as we had almost all the subsequent mornings. There was idle chatter while the rest of the cohort filtered into the large first-floor conference room. Outside the door, we were greeted by the surprise of a custom breakfast station with chefs preparing dishes at our request. This wasn’t strictly normal though. We learned we were the beneficiaries of some perks because a team of executives were having some high-level meetings at our location. We were valued guests, so the invitation was extended to our little troop.
Otherwise, the day was normal. With a fine breakfast and a cup of coffee, we all settled in for the day’s events.
